L cells

[L type enteroendocrine cells, enteroendocrine L cells] Enteroendocrine cells in the gastrointestinal tract (mainly ileum and colon) that are defined by their ability to synthesize glucagon. They are not to be confused with the glucagon cells of the pancreas.

Gastrointestinal L cells are derived from a common totipotent stem cell together with other enteroendocrine cells.
