This hormone is encoded by the precursor of glucagon and is the precursor of glucagon (Holst, 1980; Thim and Moody, 1981). Glicentin corresponds to PG(1-69) [proglucagon(1-69)] (see: Holst, 1997). In some publications the term enteroglucagon specifically refers to glicentin. Glicentin is a carboxyl-terminally extended form that corresponds to amino acids 1-69 of preproglucagon (sometimes referred to as glucagon-69; see also glucagon). The sequence also comprises the sequence of oxyntomodulin (Glicentin-(33-69)). Glicentin is also being referred to as gut-type glucagon in older publications. See also:
