(approved gene symbol) [Killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor 2DL3] This human inhibitory NK-cell receptor for MHC class I molecules is a type I transmembrane protein (341 amino acids). The protein has a long cytoplasmic tail with 2 ITIM motifs. The cDNA has been cloned by Colonna and Samaridis (1995), who called it NKAT2. Wagtmann et al (1995) have identified the same gene and called it CL6 [clone 6]. Several splice variants have been identified by Dohring et al (1996).
Khakoo et al (2004) have implicated KIR2DL3 and its ligand, HLA-C1, in the resolution of hepatitis C virus infection.
