[IL1 receptor-associated kinase M] Another designation for IRAKM is IRAK3 [IL1 receptor-associated kinase-3].
The gene has been isolated by Wesche et al (1999) from a cDNA library established from human phytohemagglutinin-activated peripheral blood leukocytes, following a search in EST sequence databanks for proteins with homology to IRAK1. The protein (596 amino acids) shows 30 to 40 % similarity with IRAK1 and IRAK2. The protein contains an N-terminal death domain and a central kinase domain and interacts with MyD88 and TRAF6
