IL28B
[interleukin-28B, interleukin-28-beta] IL28B (IL28-beta) (200 amino acids) is related to Type 1 interferon and has been described independently as IFN-lambda-3 (Kotenko et al, 2003). The approved gene symbol is IFNL3. IL28B is one of several proteins collectively referred to as type 3 interferons. A databank synonym is Zcyto22.
The gene has been identified by Sheppard et al (2003). The protein is 96 % identical with IL28A and 81 % identical with IL29. A low degree of homology is observed between IL28B and IL10, IFN-alpha-2, and IL22
