[IL1 family member 5; Interleukin-1 family member 5] This is the new designation for two factors described originally as FIL1-delta and IL1-HY1 and being referred to also as IL1-delta. The same gene is being referred to also as IL1RP3 [IL1-related protein-3], IL36Ra [interleukin-36 receptor antagonist]. The approved gene symbol is IL36RN.

Johnston et al (2011) have reported that IL1F5 is expressed in keratinocytes, shows increased expression in psoriasis plaques, which is decreased significantly by etanercept treatment, concomitant with clinical improvement.
