Hrk
[harakiri] Hrk is a protein promoting cell death by apoptosis, identified originally in a screen for genes induced in the phaeochromocytoma cell line PC12 undergoing apoptosis in response to NGF withdrawal (see: DP5).
Hrk is one of the BH3-only proteins, containing a region with high homology to the BCL2 homology region BH3, but lacking the conserved BCL2 homology domains, BH1 and BH2. Hrk is the same as DP5 and is being referred to also as BID3 [BH3-interacting domain containing protein-3].
