HGFIN
[hematopoietic growth factor inducible neurokinin-1 type] HGFIN is a transmembrane protein identified by Bandari et al (2003). The protein is expressed in lymphohematopoietic stem cells and may be involved in their maturation. The protein interacts non-covalently with substance P. Transient expression of HGFIN in unstimulated bone marrow fibroblasts leads to the induction of endogenous neurokinin-1 substance P receptors.
Metz et al (2005) have reported that HGFIN is involved in cell cycle regulation and that p53 cooperates with cytokine-mediated transcription factors to regulate the expression of HGFIN.
