Gremlin-2
approved gene symbol: GREM2. This secreted protein has been termed PRDC [protein related to DAN and cerberus] by Sudo et al (2004) who cloned the cDNA. Gremlin-2 is related to gremlin. Other designations are CKTSF1B2 (see: CKTSF [cysteine knot superfamily]) and DAND3. A databank synonym is BMP antagonist 2.
The protein has been shown to act as an antagonist for various bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP2, BMP4, BMP6, BMP7) (Sudo et al, 2004).
