DISE
[death induced by survival gene elimination] This form of cell death, referred to as DICE [Death induced by CD95R/L elimination] by Hadji A et al (2014) is observed after elimination of CD95 or CD95L. Cell death is independent of caspase-8, RIPK1 / MLKL [mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein] (a critical component of necroptosis pathway), and p53, is not inhibited by BCLxL expression, and preferentially affects cancer cells.
DISE is characterized by an increase in cell size with specific morphological changes such as elongated cell shapes with cells resembling
