DISC

[death-inducing signaling complex] A multi-protein complex assembled at the plasma membrane, which activates the downstream caspases and cell death by apoptosis (see: death domain) when a death ligand binds to a death receptor. A cytosolic DISC equivalent is the apoptosome.
