CD4M33

This rationally designed CD4 mimetic Martin et al, 2003) is a 27 residue peptide (TpaNLHFCQLRCKSLGLLGKCAGSBipCACVamide; Tpa, thiopropionic acid; Bip, biphenylalanine)) that presents optimal interactions with HIV1 gp120 and binds to viral particles and diverse HIV1 envelopes with an affinity resembling that of CD4. This mini-CD4 inhibits infection of both immortalized and primary cells by HIV1, including primary patient isolates that are generally resistant to inhibition by soluble CD4. CD4M33 also possesses functional properties of CD4, including the ability to unmask conserved neutralization epitopes of gp120 that are cryptic on the unbound glycoprotein (Stricher et al, 2008; Schnur et al, 2011). ... ... ... ... ...
