CARD6

[caspase recruitment domain-containing protein-6] (approved gene symbol). This protein of 311 amino acids has been identified by Stehlik et al (2003). The protein contains a CARD domain. It has been shown to bind to CARD4, CARDIAK, DEFCAP, and CARD8. A splice variant of CARD6, described originally by Stehlik et al (2003) and termed CINCIN1 [CARD-containing inhibitor of NOD1 and CARD-containing ICE-associated kinase-induced NF-kappa-B activation protein] by Dufner et al (2006), has a unique 3-prime terminal exon encoding 30 amino acids not present in full-length CARD6 and lacks an URG4 homology region and a C-terminal proline-rich region found in full-length CARD6.
