[B-cell growth factor-2] This B-cell growth factor causes proliferation of BCL1 cells. It is identical with EDF (eosinophil differentiation factor) and one of the factors described as TRF (T-cell replacing factor). It has been described also as BGDF (B-cell growth and differentiation factor). All factors are now referred to as IL5.
Another factor described in the older literature, also designated BCGF-2, is not identical with IL5 but identical with IL4 (see also: IgG1 induction factor, EL4-BCGF, and B151-TRF). The factor secreted by WEHI-3B-cells (
