[Anionic neutrophil-activating peptide] ANAP was isolated originally from psoriatic scales as a protein that leads to cell activation of neutrophils and that was not identical with IL1, initially believed to be responsible for this activity (Schröder et al, 1986).
ANAP is identical with MDNCF (monocyte-derived neutrophil chemotactic factor). The factor is identical with IL8 and therefore belongs to the family of chemotactic cytokines known as Chemokines (see also: Chemotaxis).
The sequence of ANAP is identical to a sequence for a murine mRNA termed Angie.
