[monocyte-derived neutrophil chemotactic factor] MDNCF is isolated from monocytes. It is chemotactic for neutrophils (see also: Chemotaxis). The protein is not identical with IL1 and TNF initially thought to be responsible for this activity. Several forms of MDNCF (MDNCF-a, MDNCF-b, MDNCF-c) have been described. MDNCF-a and MDNCF-b differ from MDNCF-a by seven and five amino acids, respectively, at the N-terminus.
MDNCF is identical with an anionic neutrophil-activating protein, called ANAP, isolated from psoriasis scales. This factor is identical with IL8
