The monoclonal antibody of this name has been generated by immunization of mice with MCF-7 human breast cancer cells and shows a high degree of selectivity for binding to breast cancer cells (Edwards et al, 1986). The antibody detects a cell surface glycoprotein of 43 kDa. The murine gene encoding the antigen recognized by 323/A3 has been cloned by Bergsagel et al (1992) (see also: 289A). Sequence comparison shows that the predicted protein is the murine homolog of CD326.
