[ZFYM assay] This angiogenesis assay is based on the injection of human recombinant bFGF in the perivitelline space of zebrafish embryos in the proximity of developing subintestinal vein vessels at 48 hours post-fertilization (Nicoli et al, 2009). The growth factor induces a rapid and dose-dependent angiogenic response from the subintestinal vein vessel basket with ectopic growth of newly formed blood vessels connected to the systemic circulation of the embryo.
