abbr. TF (a term with multiple meanings); abbr. also TFA). Tissue factor is known also as tissue thromboplastin, thromboplastin, coagulation factor III, or factor III (factor 3, F3, FIII). The complete sequence of the tissue factor gene (12.4 kb, 6 exons) has been described by Mackman et al (1990). The gene maps to human chromosome 1p21-p22 (Kao et al, 1988). In the nomenclature of CD antigens the designation is CD142.
