[F8 peptide] This peptide, PLLQATAGGGS, has been identified in a phage display screen (Fan et al, 2014). Peptide F8 is a bFGF (FGF2) antagonist (FGF2 antagonist peptide P8) and suppresses the proliferation of tumor cells induced by bFGF with no cytotoxic effect on cells. It has been shown to arrest the cycle at the G0/G1 phase in B16-F10 melanoma cells, and to downregulate the activation of fibroblast growth factor receptor substrate 2-alpha (FRS2-alpha) / ERK cascade in B16-F10, NIH-H460 lung cancer cells, and SGC-7901 gastric cancer cells.
