ovokinin (FRADHPFL; Phe-Arg-Ala-Asp-His-Pro-Phe-Leu) has been identified as a vasorelaxing peptide derived from ovalbumin and corresponds to ovalbumin(358-365) (Fujita et al, 1995). Ovokinin shows endothelium-dependent relaxing activity for a canine mesenteric artery and causes the release of Prostaglandin I2. It acts through the bradykinin B1 receptor. The peptide significantly lowers the systolic blood pressure of spontaneously hypertensive rats (Fujita et al, 1995).
