metastasin

gene symbol: mts-1 [metastasin-1] (and not to be confused with another gene, mts1 [multiple tumor suppressor gene 1], called also CDKN2A, p16INK4a, p16, INK4a). Metastasin is a member of the S100 protein family of calcium binding proteins. It has been renamed S100A4.

The mts-1 gene has been identified by Ebralidze et al (1989). Ambartsumian et al (1995) have characterized two splice variants that differ in their 5-prime untranslated regions.
