gp78

[glycoprotein 78] This membrane glycoprotein of 78 kDa has been isolated from murine melanoma cells and was implicated in cell migration (Nabi and Raz, 1987). gp78 has been identified as the tumor autocrine motility factor receptor (see: AMFR) that mediates tumor invasion and metastasis (Nabi et al, 1991; Silletti S et al, 1991). Watanabe et al (1991) have cloned the receptor cDNA.

The gp78 protein has E3 ubiquitin ligase activity and is therefore being referred to also as E3 ubiquitin ligase gp78 or gp78 E3 ubiquitin ligase.
