abbr. BPP-I. This pentapeptide (LGPGP) has been isolated from the bursa of Fabricius, the central humoral immune organ unique to birds which plays important roles in B-lymphocyte differentiation, by Feng et al, 2012). In vitro, the peptide, which is one of several other bursal peptides, inhibits the proliferation of MCF-7 cells, but not of chicken embryo fibroblasts or Vero cells. I also enhances the expression of p53 protein. Also, the peptide stimulates antibody production in hybridoma cells and can induce antibody production and IL4 and IFN-levels levels in mice.
