breast cancer cell differentiation factor p45

The gene for this factor has been isolated by Culouscou et al (1993). It is a splice variant of Neuregulin-1 (see also: Neuregulins). The factor induces the differentiation of MDA-MB-453 human breast cancer cells and stimulates the tyrosine phosphorylation of the erbB4 receptor (Plowman et al, 1993). According to the bioactivity this factor is identical with NDF (neu differentiation factor).
