[pre-B-lymphocyte gene 1] Human VPREB1 is homologous to the mouse Vpre-B gene and appears to be selectively expressed in human pre-B-cell lines Bauer et al, 1988).

In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD179a.
