[virus-encoded semaphorin protein receptor] In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD232. The protein is identical with plexin-C1 (see: plexins).
This receptor has been cloned from a human B-cell line. It binds a virus-encoded semaphorin, A39R, with high affinity (see also: Semaphorins). AHV-Sema is another ligand for this receptor but binds with lower affinity (Comeau et al, 1998). VESPR has been identified also as the receptor for the semaphorin SEMA7A (Tamagnone et al, 1999).
