[Tyrosyl-tRNA synthetases]
abbr. TyrRS. The cDNAs encoding the tRNA synthetase tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase (called also Tyrosine-tRNA Ligase; approved gene symbol: YARS) (EC6.1.1.1 in the enzyme nomenclature catalogue) has been cloned from several different human cDNA libraries (Kleeman et al, 1997). The term YARS2 refers to the mitochondrial Tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase, Tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase 2 or Tyrosine-tRNA Ligase 2 that catalyses the covalent binding of tyrosine to its cognate mitochondrial tRNA.
