Tenectin

gene symbol Tnc. This secreted Drosophila melanogaster protein encoded by gene CG13648. Tenectin is a hormonally regulated extracellular matrix protein required for proper morphogenesis of the adult wing and male genitalia. Tenectin is a Mucin-type protein that contains an RGD sequence motif and functions as a ligand of the PS2 integrins (Fraichard et al, 2010). Tenectin is a secreted protein that fills the embryonic hindgut lumen during tube diameter expansion and is critical to shape the Drosophila melanogaster hindgut tube (Syed et al, 2012).
