[testis spermatogenesis apoptosis-related gene 6; testis spermatogenesis apoptosis-related protein 6] The cDNA encoding the gene for this human protein on chromosome 11q13.3 has been cloned by Liu et al (2004). The protein (316 amino acids) is a member of the hsp40 protein family of heat shock proteins. TSARG6 is expressed specifically in adult testis and is thought to play a role in processes leading to the inhibition of cell death by apoptosis in human testis spermatogenesis. The approved gene symbol is DNAJB13 [DnaJ (Hsp40) homolog, subfamily B, member 13].
