[triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1; Triggering receptor expressed on monocytes 1] TREM1 (234 amino acids) is an activating receptor of the Ig superfamily expressed on human mature differentiated myelomonocytic cells (Gingras et al, 2002). In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD354.
Gingras et al (2002) have described an alternative splice variant (TREM1sv) that may encode a soluble receptor. The expression of soluble splice variants of the receptor in stimulated monocytes has been described by Begum et al (2004).
