[transmembrane and associated with src kinases] This protein has been identified by Bhatt et al (2005) as a mitotic substrate of src kinases. TRASK is a 140 kDa type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein. The protein associates with src and yes, is localized to the cell membrane and relocalized to the cytoplasm during mitosis.
Overexpression of TRASK causes a loss of adhesion phenotype. The protein interacts with various adhesion and matrix proteins such as cadherins, syndecans, and membrane-type serine protease-1, which cleaves TRASK. Sequence comparisons show that TRASK is identical with CDCP1, and in the nomenclature of CD antigens has received the designation CD318.
