The amino acid sequence deduced from the human TER1 cDNA shows 43, 40, 40, and 39 % identity to CCR4, CCR5, CCR1, and CCR2B beta chemokine receptors, respectively (Napolitano et al, 1996). The TER1 gene maps to chromosome 3p21. TER1 mRNA is expressed in the thymus, spleen, and at barely detectable levels in peripheral blood lymphocytes. It is abundant in the natural killer cell line NK3.3 and in the T-cell line MOLT-4. TER1 has been shown to be identical with the chemokine receptor CCR8.
