abbr. SVV. Human survivin is known also as Apoptosis inhibitor 4 (abbr. API4). The murine homolog has been called TIAP. The closest relative in Drosophila melanogaster is Deterin, which can partially take over survivin functions. Survivin contains a single baculovirus IAP repeat (see: BIR domain) and lacks a carboxyl-terminal RING finger (Ambrosini et al, 1997).
