Sharpin

[shank-associated RH domain interactor; Shank-associated RH domain-interacting protein] The gene encoding this protein has been cloned by Daigo et al (2003), who referred to it as SIPL1 [shank-interacting protein-like 1]. Predominant expression is seen in skeletal muscle, placenta, stomach, and small intestine.

Daigo et al (2003) have identified Sharpin as a gene with increased expression in mutant W/Wv mice that carry a mutation in the kit oncogene (SCF receptor) and have defects in mast cells and interstitial cells of Cajal.
