Secapin

This peptide has been isolated from Africanized honeybee (Apis mellifera) venom. The sequence (YIIDVPPRCPPGSKFIKNRCRVIVPamide) has been described by Gauldie et al (1978). The cDNA has been cloned by Vlasak and Kreil (1984).

Secapin-1 has been isolated from the venom of A. mellifera in China (Meng et al, 2012) and is identical with Secapin-2.

Secapin-2 (YIIDVPPRCPPGSKFVHKRCRVIVPamide) has been identified by Mourelle et al (2014). Secapin-2 does not induce hemolysis, mast cell degranulation, or chemotactic activities. It causes potent dose-related hyperalgesic and edematogenic responses in experimental animals and induces ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
