[stanniocalcin 2] The protein, known also as STCRP [stanniocalcin-related protein] (DiMattia et al, 1998), plays a role in a highly conserved homeostatic response in all eukaryotic cells, termed the unfolded-protein response, which is initiated when misfolded proteins accumulate in the endoplasmic reticulum.
