SERPIND1

(approved gene symbol) [serpin peptidase inhibitor clade D member 1]. This protein has been identified originally as HCF2 [Heparin cofactor 2] (abbr. also: HC2, HCII) (Tollefsen DM et al, 1982). It is known also as LS2 [Leuserpin 2] (Ragg, 1986). Wunderwald et al (1982) and Witt et al (1983) have termed the protein Antithrombin BM and identified it as a glycoprotein with antithrombin activity that binds only moderately to porcine heparin. The cDNA sequence has been reported by Blinder et al (1988), and the gene structure has been described by Herzog et al (1991).
