S100A16
[S100 calcium binding protein A16] This is a homodimeric calcium-binding protein related to the S100 family of proteins (Sturchler et al, 2006). Databank synonyms are S100F [S100 calcium binding protein F] and AAG-13 [Aging-associated gene 13 protein].
The protein is overexpressed in some cancers (Marenholz and Heizmann, 2004).
Sturchler et al (2006) have reported widespread distribution of S100A16 in the mouse brain where the protein appears to be expressed specifically in astrocytes.
Liu Y et al (2011) have implicated S100A16 in adipogenesis. Overexpression of S100A16 in pre-adipocytes
