(approved gene symbol); abbr. also RNASE T2 [ribonuclease T2]. In data banks the ribonuclease is also being referred to as Ribonuclease 6. The cDNA encoding RNASET2 has been identified originally as a member of the Rh/T2/S-glycoprotein family of extracellular ribonucleases, termed RNASE6PL (Trubia et al, 1997; Acquati et al, 2001). Acquati et al (2005) have reported that RNASET2 is a secreted glycoprotein. In mammalian cells, expression of RNASET2 family members is induced in response to exposure to hydrogen peroxide, ultraviolet irradiation, and inflammatory stimuli (Wang Q et al, 2014; Ambrosio et al, 2014).
