[RGTAs]
acronym for ReGeneraTing Agents. General name for a number of water-soluble dextran-derived polymers derived from T40 dextran. RG-1503 is carboxylmethylsulfate dextran. RG-1192 is carboxylmethylsulfate dextran-benzylamide.
Like heparin and heparan sulfates, RGTAs potentiate in vitro the biological activities of heparin binding growth factors (HBGF) and protect them against proteolytic degradation (Mestries et al, 2001). They also influence the extracellular matrix of cells.
