[Gln-Pro-Lys] This tripeptide, isolated from sepia ink and termed SIO [Sepia ink oligopeptide], has been shown to function as an anticancer peptide, inhibiting the proliferation of numerous human prostate cancer cell lines (Huang et al, 2012). Treatment with QPK induces strong S phase and G2 phase / M phase cell cycle arrest in DU-145 and LNCaP prostate cancer cell lines and strong Sub G1 phase and G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrest in PC-3 cells.
