abbr. ACPs; also antitumor peptides, or anticarcinogenic peptides. This term has been used in the context of bioactivities of antimicrobial peptides, which do not play an essential role in innate immune responses of organisms only, but also possess anticancer activity (for overview see: Hancock et al, 2016; Felício et al, 2017; Liscano et al, 2020; Tornesello et al, 2020). Some synthetic peptides and those selected, for example, by phage display methods, as well as a number of cell-penetrating peptides and various cryptides also have anticancer activities.
