[Pseudo-interleukin-1-beta converting enzyme] abbr. Pseudo-IL1-beta-ICE. The protein is highly related to ICEBERG and shows homology to the CARD domain found in caspase-1. Pseudo-ICE blocks secretion of IL1-beta induced by IFN-gamma or bacterial lipopolysaccharides in a monocytic cell line. Pseudo-ICE interacts with the CARD-containing kinase RIP2 and activates transcription factor NF-kappa-B.
The approved gene symbol is CARD16 [caspase recruitment domain-containing protein-16] and the protein is identical with Cop [CARD only protein]
