[Parasol cell]
[parasol ganglion cells] A special type of ganglion cells (neurons) found in the retina (Grunert et al, 1993). Parasol cells make up ~10 % of the retinal ganglion cells (Perry et al, 1984). Parasol cells are called also M cells because they project to the magnocellular layers of the lateral geniculate nucleus. Parasol cells of the primate retina have many properties in common with Y cells (Crook et al, 2008).
