[plasma cell membrane glycoprotein-1] Human PC-1 (van Driel and Goding, 1987; Buckley et al, 1990) is the counterpart of murine Pca-1, a homodimeric glycoprotein identified by Takahashi et al (1970) on plasma cells.

The protein is identical with ENPP1 [ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 1 or ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphatase 1] (Rebbe et al, 1991), which is expressed on the surface of activated B-cells and plasma cells as a differentiation antigen.
