The high-frequency blood group antigen Ok(a) is associated with a cell membrane glycoprotein of 35-69 kDa in erythrocytes. The antigen is distributed widely on hemopoietic cells and a range of normal human tissues and malignant cells of different origins. The amino acid sequence of the purified glycoprotein is identical with the M6 antigen.
