[Olfactomedin-like protein 2A] This protein is a member of a protein family known as Olfactomedins and has been identified originally as a secreted glycoprotein in mice, termed Photomedin-1 by Furutani Y et al (2005), who reported that it is expressed selectively in the outer segment of photoreceptor cells. The protein has been shown to bind chondroitin sulphate-E and heparin in the extracellular matrix. Pérez-Ibave DC et al (2016) have reported expression of OLFML2A in photoreceptor cells.
Sistani L et al (2013) have reported expression of OLFML2A in podocytes.
