Another designation is IGLON2 [IgLON family member 2], a designation based on the fact that the protein is one member of the family of IgLON proteins (Struyk et al, 1995). Some databanks list HNT and NTRI as synonyms. The chicken counterpart is considered to be a protein identified as CEPU-1.
The gene is expressed widely in neurons but its distribution differs from the expression pattern of another IgLON family member, OBCAM (Struyk et al, 1995).
