abbr. NMC. Neuromedin C, so called by Minamino et al (1984), is a decapeptide isolated from a side fraction obtained during the isolation of neuromedin B from porcine spinal cord. This peptide exhibits a potent stimulant effect on the smooth muscle preparation of rat uterus. This peptide, GNHWAVGHLMamide, is identical with the carboxyterminal subsequence [18-27] of GRP [Gastrin releasing peptide] (GRP(18-27)). The peptide is being referred to also as GRP-10.
